Getting back in on the fun!
#1
After losing my best friend in a motocross accident about 8 years ago, I got out of riding at the request of close friends and family members. I just couldn't stay away and bought a new sport street bike a couple years back, sold it and bought another street bike this past year. I now have young kids who have been begging me to get them into riding and it reminded me of how much fun I had as a kid riding in the dirt. This year for Christmas I was able to find a great deal on a 2004 Suzuki LT80 and gave it to my three boys to start riding. Needless to say I will be limiting the throttle almost all the way down to start out. Now I need a ATV or bike for me to ride with them in the dirt. I can't wait to get back out in the dirt and share my love for motocross with my three sons. Glad to be back!

I quit pheasant hunting after a family hunting accident. I can understand your withdrawal from dirt bikes after this tragedy. I suspect your good friend would approve of you getting back into what you love to do, and with your family.
I am new to this ATV hobby. I have read all about the hazards of ATV riding and will be a "low risk" rider. We like to ride for "sightseeing" and being out of doors. And I like the motorsport associated with it. ATVs have advanced a long way from the Honda 3 wheelers. ATVs are now complicated and highly technical. And very powerful. I also figure the ATV will be a useful "tractor" for pushing snow out of the way.
Welcome to ATV Connection. This Forum is good, full of information and fun. Folks here are respectful of other's opinions. I think you will enjoy it. You can focus on the LT80 first and learn all about them.

Welcome aboard, sorry for your loss of a friend, but look at the bright side I am sure you and friends will be a more carefull rider now and in the future.
We many times take for granted these fun filled motorized vehicles and forget the danger side to all this fun. Sometimes it takes a tragic accident to keep us on our toes so the loss of your friend will not be in vain. I encourage you to be mindfull of your sons and teach them the correct way to ride safely and your self as well. Good people on this forum, always willing to lend a hand.
