Hi kenvb: We met on another thread. Gee, a motorcycle mechanic, good for you. Your experience will add value to these forums. Many of the threads are "won't start" mechanical issues. You have met "old polaris tech" who does a splendid job helping thousands of folks with their troublesome ATVs. But he isn't much help with marital problems! Maybe you would enjoy some "on line" diagnosis.
Good luck with your quad rebuild. I hope the "kid" didn't get hurt in the rollover crash. ATVs are inherently unstable vehicles at speed, but perfectly good at slow speeds. Training and experience are so important.

I'm old enough to remember when it was felt "made in Japan" was likely a poor quality product. I think Honda motorcycles of the early sixties rather changed that perception for me. Soon Japan was leading the world in quality and manufacturing processes.
I can remember AMF Harley Davidson days in the 70s weren't the greatest. Quality levels in the USA during the 70s were not too good in my view.
I think the product design and manufacturing processes are the key to high quality. There are good ATVs made in China. My Outlander and my pickup engine were both made in Mexico. So far, no defects noted.

David.. there might be some good ATVs made in China..but there parts system really needs attention. i have bought 3 brand new Chinese ATVs in last 20 yrs. None of the so called dealers could get any part within a month of me buying these, had to get online or on Kijiji . but have had dozens of old Hondas.Yamahas. and no issues geting parts from dealers ,and some were 30 yrs old.?
