Default Yamaha breeze 125 clicks on trying to start

Yamaha breeze 125 - click on trying to start
I have a circa 1990 Yamaha breeze 125 - was running absolutely fine. My boy was driving it and felt a little un-safe while Cornering - he hit the red kill switch on handle bar and engine stopped.
ever since then when going to start just get a click and no more. (Click is the solenoid I presume) I have put a new starter motor on which works fine when taken out of the starter position earthed and connected to the bike. Any ideas

Clicking is almost always a tell-tale sign of a weak battery or fouled connections. Have that battery load tested to know if it is any good, a voltmeter check is not confirmation. Additionally, you could have fouled battery and/or ground connections. Remove and clean all those connections, never a bad thing to do.

Ideal. Thank you. I have ordered a new battery - had the bike two years and not had to replace battery - will clean up connections etc hope that solves it.

It is the most logical start to resolving that type of situation. Start with the most common and easy things first. And sounds like when you got the quad there is no telling how old the battery is. Probably not a bad idea to just replace it and clean all the connections. Look for a frame ground and clean that too. If the problem still exists, at least you have cleared the potential for a battery related issue.
