Default Bayou 220

I have a Kawasaki Bayou 220, it starts really easy with the recoil rope, but I have back problems, and would like to see if I can fix the starter.
All it does when you push the starter button is click, click, click in the solonoid area, the starter does not turn over. Any ideas,
Also because there is no starter noise, I am not even sure where the starter is located.
Any help please.
Thanks

I know it was a while ago that you posted. Came across this on a search. Anyhow, maybe I can help (if I'm not too late). First of all, the clicking you hear could be a solenoid from a winch if you have one. I'm no mechanic but I don't think the Bayou 220 itself has a solenoid to that clicks. But I have been in the same position that you are in with nothing happening when you click the starter button. First thing I'd do is make sure the battery is putting out the full voltage (use a volt-meter). Secondly, try to hot-wire it (and wear safety glasses in case you short something out because batteries like these or car batteries are bad about blowing). I'm not sure hot to explain the hot-wire, but it is something like this: take a wire ( at least one that will carry 12 volts) and strip both ends; then put one end on the positive battery post and touch the other end to the starter contact. If you have an owner's manual you can look at the wire chart and find this. It is on the square plug with four wires in it (and it is one of the four) above the starter circuit relay (next to the battery); Anyhow, if doing this makes it start (and be sure to have the key "on"), then the problem may be your starter circuit relay (about $20) and easy to replace yourself. The reason I know this is I have a '97 Bayou 220, which I maintain religiously, that has gone through 2 of these over the years. Hope it helps.TextTextexplain

Pecker,
I have a 2000 Kaw Bayou, I was wondering if you knew where I could buy an owners manual. I bought it used and it didn't come with it. Would a Kaw retailer possibly have one?? If so, would you have an address for a Kaw retailer. I had the same problem that this person had, it was just I hadn't ridden my quad in a while, and my battery went dead. As soon as I had the battery charged back up, I could start it with the electric start.

If anyone else would know where to get an owners manual for a 2000 Kawasaki Bayou, it would be great.

I bought my '97 used aslo. Bought my owner's manual at the local dealer. If you don't have one locally, you could try Kawasaki.com and probably order one from there.
