What is a CDI? I have heard alot of people talk about it, but I have no idea what it is. I want to know everything there is possible about it. What do they do, what does and aftermarket one do that a stock one doesnt, where can i find an aftermarket one, how much do they cost, who makes them, and anything else there is possible to know about it. I need information! Thankyou to anyone who answers my questions i just wanted to know and you have to ask questions to gain knowledge.

I was in that thread as well, I believe it was removed because the guy that posted it made the mistake of advertising his product in the thread. as far as a CDI. They do not have one on the market yet but people are working on it. Right now the closest thing to it is a module for low end performance, they sell for about $100 and are probably the best mod for the money (so far) What it does is optimize timing, the stock CDI retards the timing for libility reasons, (they think its to powerful for the average rider) The ones I know of currently are the: holeshot module, the frequency generator, and the Dale brooks, the frequency generator and dale brooks might be the same thing (i dont know for sure).

As for the street bike CDI in a fourwheeler, There is someone in another thread that says he put one in out of a ninja or something along those lines, and says it works great, dont know the guy so I cant vouch for him.

Hi,

Stupid question time: Is it possible to use a CDI off a street bike with a V-twin? since they are for the street they shouldn't have the retardation that is found on the Prarie/Vforce.
I am not sure if someone has tried this or not but if so what were the results.
Thank you for your time.

Eagle,
You can not use a similiar cdi as most bikes do not use a cdi but an electronic ignition very different concepts. Mostly there is separate coil or gadget that produces spark where as ours produces the spark and everything else that is needed to run the machine. This process is very hard to duplicate and a few companys are haveing a hard time to reproduce this unit without stepping on OEM patents. Hope this helps.
