Bigger is always better. I put a Scrambler in a shortbed tailgate shut.

Bigger is better, I do have a friend though that puts his sportsman 500 in the back of his ranger with tailgate shut. I personally wouldnt do it though because he runs over one of the wheel wells, its long enough but not really wide enough. I have a fullsize long bed and have plenty of room for coolers or anything else I want to bring. So even a fullsize shortbed would probably work, not positive on that one though.

Go to your dealer and take measurements. It might be a pretty tight fit if it does. If it doesn't you can probably find a 4x8 trailer for a couple hundred.

And rememer, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

I just picked up my 700 yesterday and it fits in my 2001 ford ranger 4x4 just fine, the tail gate even closes. You do have to run it up over the tire well humps.
