Default Elka's on V-Force MX ride review

I have a 3500' track that I haven't been on for over a month, but before then, I was on it every weekend to prepare for a GNCC race. With the stock suspension, the fastest lap I was able to do, was, 1:28. Many times that we were there, we timed 5 laps. So I will show you the last two times I did 5 timed laps with the stock suspension, then you will see my time today doing 5 laps. Again today was the first time on the track in over a month.

1st five laps (stock)---------------------------------------2nd (stock)----------------------------------Elka's 5 laps
lap 1, 1:30-----------------------------------------------------1:30--------------------------------------------1:21
lap 2, 1:30-----------------------------------------------------1:29--------------------------------------------1:21
lap 3, 1:29-----------------------------------------------------1:29--------------------------------------------1:21
lap 4, 1:28-----------------------------------------------------1:28--------------------------------------------1:22
lap 5, 1:29-----------------------------------------------------1:28--------------------------------------------1:20
Tatal, 7:26-----------------------------------------------------7:24--------------------------------------------6:45

So you can see, with the Elka's on, I cut my best 5 laps by .39 sec, or allmost a 1/2 lap. This was much more then I expected. I was thinking maybe 10-15 sec better, but .39 blew me away. However, it did feel like I was doing the laps faster, and the time shows it.

As far as the handeling, way better then stock. I was taking corners way more aggresive, and the woops were not a issue. I also have a 35' jump, in which it's 35 feet from the start of the jump, to the beginning of the landing ramp, with a big hole in the middle. I would say, I'm hitting the ramp at, at least 40mph to clear it. The Elka's landed like a down pillow, very plush, but it wasn't that much better then stock. But a lot has to do is, your landing on a down ramp, so it's not to harsh for any suspension, but on one time, I hit the jump hard and fast, and the front tires landed on the flat part on the bottom of the ramp, and there was a slight noise, but I couldn't tell if I was bottoming out, or if it was something else, but it was still a smooth landing. That jump was allmost 55'. But the other two jumps I made, around 3-4' in height have flat landings. So when I had the stock suspension on, I would have to slow down a little, because I would bottom out. But if I stiffen the pre-load, I would get beat to death. With the Elka's, I took them in full stride, and they still landed like a down pillow. So I ended up hitting them harder, and still didn't phase the Elka's at all. No more pogo stick feel in the rear. So with me writing this, now I can see why I was so much faster. So to some it up, this is the best mod you can put on the 700. I can not see any motor mods that could be put on, that would give faster laps. This is because, the stock suspension will only handle so much. However, the exhaust mod would of saved me almost $1000, but I don't think my time would have been any faster. Now I feel I can use more of the power that the 700 puts out, and get the full use out of it. Once I max that out, then will come the exhaust.

Which Elkas did you get? Are they QuadRate & Fully Adjustable? I heard something about giving up travel to get more adjustability.

The fronts are triple rate, no-preload with piggiebacks and compression, and the rears are dual rate with rezzie, and reboud and compresion. I gained travel, the fronts went from 9.1 to 10.5, and the rear went from 7.9 to 10.

Great info. Thanks.
Those are some pretty consistent lap times.
Did you you install the shocks yourself? If so, how difficult was the installation?
I like the AC PRO PEGS. They look a lot sweeter than the DG's. Where did you order them from?
thanks spydr

The shocks were easy to install. The fronts took about 5 min each side, and about 20 min for the rear. I got the Pro Pegs right from AC Racing. My AC front bumper is also coming.
