Bayou is an excellent machine. In fact one of my favorites. Go with an 04 Bayou 300 2wd you'll love it!

 

If you're even thinking about a Bayou 300, get a Honda TRX 300 instead. They are very similar. Honda is just plain better quality than Kawasaki.

 

ther bayou 250 is better than the beartracker.but the bayou bottoms out alot on rough trails.i would rather have a bayou than a bayou the beartracker has some weird headlights. the bayou 300 is way better than the honda 300 .

 

Out of the 250s (Recon, Beartracker, Bayou, Ozark), I would buy them in this order
1. Yellow Ozark
2. Red Ozark
3. Green Ozark

The Bayou is not better than the Beartracker in any area that I can see [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]. Bigger carb, more power, more suspension, stronger suspension, disc brakes on the front, roomier, more ground clearance, much higher rack capacity, much higher towing capacity, bigger gas tank. The only area the Bayou wins is weight.

When it comes down to it, The Recon and the Ozark aren't as utility oriented as the Beartracker. They don't have the same size bumpers, racks, or towing capacity. If you want one for work, get the Beartracker, if you want one more for trail riding and occasionally pulling something light around, go for an Ozark or Recon, but Ozark first because it's quicker and more powerful.

 

the beartracker does have a bigger carb bigger gas tank and more stuff but the beartracker has a bigger gas tank beacuse the carb doesnt get as good of gas milage as the bayou.i watch a atv tv a while back asnd the they were doin a test on mid size utillity atvs heres the order. 1= ozark,2=recon,3=bayou,4=beartracker,5=rally. the bayou had 13 points and the beartracker had 12, so the bayou is better than the beartracker but not by much.

 

What did they base the statement "the Bayou is better" on? Woopdeedoo, the Beartracker has a bigger gas tank and a bigger carb, it evens out. I could ride my Tracker every day for a week and not hav to fill up. I don't know anything about ATV TV, but look at any other shootout between all of these models and see what the results are.

 

Won't go 50 -- no way. Mine hits 42-44. It is very cold blooded but a tough little 4 wheeler....

 

what wont go 50 ? a bayou or beartracker?so u dont know any thing about atv tv ? it comes on the outdoor channle wednesdays nights at 8 pm central time .

 

My Bayou 250 won't go faster than 44 or so. A Blaster runs 57 and a Mojave runs 54 i really don't think my Bayou is as fast as a Sport 250 since it weighs 100lbs more. ATV Rider mag verified the mph's of all the sport 250's a few issues back....
