700 Prairie is broke already!!!

I let OldmanWheeler take out the 700 Prairie and 15 minutes into his ride he was stuck in really deep mud,,,, he would probley been able to get through it but for some reason it switched itself into 2 wd! The switch is in 4X4, the dash shows 2wd!!!! They said when they first drug it out it seemed like the front diff was locked up but it rolls freely now! It has only 80 miles on it but I've not been happy with the drive train noises I've been hearing such as the clunking noise when I let off the gas and hit the gas again,,, or the gear whine when in 4x4,,, it sounds like the ring and pinion are not set up right!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well, back to the dealer beings it is under warranty I'm not even gonna mess with it, I've got enuf things to work on so they can deal with it! I'm beginning to think I should have kept the old dependable 650!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Don't be saying that man, because you know good and well a year from now its going to be the arguing point for everyone with a Grizzly or Rincon or Sp700. No, just jokin. Thats pretty screwed up, but I guess just a glitch somewhere. I'm guessing warranty will take care of that.

After my first good ride with my 03 650 this saturday it's front end was making klunking noises.....belt was squecking (think it had a little water in it), and was camoflauged (more brown than green )
Hope to heck the clunking noise is the linckage and not the front differential......
sorry to hear bout the bad luck with your 700

Check the front Diff fluid. I know 2 guys who had problems with it. One didnt have fluid it in and the other had the wrong kind of fluid in it.

My 03 650 did that once too before my 10 hour inspection. We were towing a truck out of the mud and it went into 2wd all by itself. I had to drive around a bit before it went back into 4wd. I have never had the problem since. It ws also pretty noisey at first too but it gets quieter when things break in a bit more.
I hope that's all the problems you ever have with it. Enjoy.
Big One, check my pics for the bearclaws on mine.

Well, I never made it to the dealership,,, as I was washing all the mud off it to get it ready to take it in I discovered the speed sensor had come apart,, the center of it came apart!!! I called the dealer and they ordered me a new one and I should be up and screaming again by the weekend! I'm not sure how or why it came apart but they said it will be warranty so no big deal!!!! The gear noise will be reported to Kawi and that way they will have notice that there may be a problem but until something really goes wrong Kawi don't fix anything! That sucks but I guess that's their way!

I wouldn't complain about the gear noises yet if you have the same clutch as the R&D protype clutch I have in my 650 because it will out last any other kawi clutches. I would get it looked at but I did see some of the things that you mention however this clutch system is the best. I'm also wondering if your gear selector needs adjustments. I just put well over 2000km on mine in the last 3-4 weeks and it only needed a small adjustment and only got one small pep out of it.
