Based on what you've said about your preferred riding, I think you'll find either choice much more enjoyable than the sp500.

Default Prairie or Scrambler?

i have 2 friends with prairie's one has the 650 the other a 700.they are very nice and have lots of power,i have a scrambler 400 2-stroke and have ridden with the 700 and went every where he went only faster..my scrambler will get to top speed quicker than the 700 and will also stay in front the whole way..we played in the sand pits and there was one hill i made it up that he just dug himself in at the top.i havent got a chance to ride with the 650 yet but i will soon.ive put my scrambler through so much abuse it isnt even funny and the only thing i have broke is the axle thats after catching a log in the trail at full speed.if you want a sport quad that can go up any hill the prairie can, go with the scrambler 400 2-stroke a 4x4 isnt needed unless playing in the mud..for playing on the sand hills you want the lightest you can get and something that can get the tires spinning fast which the 2-strokes do..i wouldnt trade my scrambler for a prairie ever..

I can't speak as to the 400 I know it is fast, but my brother inlaw has the 500 4X4 4 stroke and he has never beaten me in a race. The race is closer when we run in 2wd but I still walk away. Now in 4X4 I just leave him. I do like riding his 500 but would never consider getting one over the Prairie. NEVER.

i ride with a 500 4x4 scrambler also and it will pretty much stay right behind the 650 top speed, but the 650 has a pipe and filter and the 500 is bone stock..the 400's will totally smoke the 500's..

i own the 2x4 and let me tell you i can make my 400 scrammy smoke the kfx700 like it is sitting still, the kfx pushes what 50 hp?my 400 is almost that much now and with a few bucks i can make it push like 90 hp..and the suspension isnt all that much better and for handling well i know i can smoke ya on the tight trails because the 700 is just way to big..

I have an 02 Scrambler 400 and an 02 Prairie 650

Hands Down the Prairie is the nicer of the quads riding in the woods..
The Scrambler I drag race with - Lighter easier to rebuild if something happens and a Polaris is a lot less expensive to repair than a Kawasaki. However I would prefer if I were to be riding the trails all day to stay on my Kawasaki....

Wrong.
I've got what I'm sure is one of the most modified (approx. $2000 in motor, clutch & swingarm) Scramblers on this board and my V-Force with just a spring change and dual exhausts is just as fast as the Scrambler ever was and 10 times sportier and more dependable. The Polaris 400 can make some power, but its just not as good an engine as the 700 twin in my opinion.

oh yeah you spent $2000 for the motor work, swingarm and the clutching?lol thats not much at all..the kit i might end up getting is $2500 and thats just for the motor parts..your $2000 scrambler is barely modded lol...

Ever ridden a properly clutched and piped V-force? Didn't think so.

Here's my Scrambler:
400 Scrambler & mods

I know what can be done with the 400 by HPD and some of the guys on the Badboyz Polaris forum have some really fast sports. Comparing all I've done to my Scrambler to what little I've done to the V-Force tells me all I need to know about what the better quad and motor are.
