Default Struts VS A-Arm Questions

There must be an advantage that struts have over A-Arms and vise versa. What are they. Why do some quads have struts and some don't? Polaris and Kawi like to use struts up front on the utility models while Suzuki and Yamaha like A-Arms.

I wonder if it is possible to make the P650, and other ATVs that use struts, use A-arms instead? I would rather have A-Arms, they seem to have a better ride and look simpler and easier to work on.
