I had a 2k 4x4 Kodiak that steered like power steering. My new 03 P650 is tough. It steers in 2x4 like the Kodiak did in 4x4, but a little worse. I know they are totally different machines but I still think the P650 should be better. I posted this earlier and thanks to all replies. 6 psi helped but she is still stiff.
There are some long time 4wheeler folks I work with who have experimented with front end alignment changes with success on big arctic cats and such. I wanted to ask about that here for some details I can't get out of them. Such as what to expect when moving toe in or out or other adjustments. And how does the Factory set them up and what are their intentions.
Thanks

Rock, most of us have our toe in set at zero, maybe 1/8th toe in will help, really you need to give it a chance to break in, as it's new i know what you are saying mine was the same way but after you ride it for a while you get used to it and it will loosen up...after about 100 miles, change the front diff oil to some kind of synthetic, the thinner the oil the easier it will steer, but I wouldn't go thinner than 10w-30...Mobil 1 makes motorcycle oil and it's at Autozone but high, about 8 buck's a quart, I would just use the Mobil 1 auto. either 10-30 or 15-50 for half the price and it should work well, it should meet all the spec's, some on here use the Kaw diff and wet brake fluid in the rear end and front and swear by it... I don't know, it is very thin hydraulic fluid so it may ease the steering, give it some time before you start beating your head against the wall, it will get better.......

Yep, got stock tires do ya.
The Dunlop’s 2-ply sidewall bend, and have square shoulders which makes steering a chore.
Get yourself good quality tires in 6-ply construction; it will be like night and day.
I love my ITP 589's M/S. However they are pretty heavy and do rob a bit of power.

Thanks Guys, I guess I need to have patience and let her break in. I keep forgetting. I do have a set of HoleShot ATRs' due to land here Tuesday. I need to put those on and go from there and (as you suggest) wait for her to loosen up.

Hey Stakk, (and the rest of you folks) Talk to me about the alignment spec you mentioned of 1/8". Tell me what results you are adjusting for, or trying to correct. I have never did this on a 4wheeler. Don't know anything about front end alignment or what kind of operating characteristics indicate what needs to be done.
Can I get your procedure.
Just some background on me. I'm an Engineering\Maintenance\Machinist Tech for an Anheuser-Busch Brewery of 11 years. Before that Stroh's - 8 years, before that Coke - 3 years. You can talk it to me.
