Prairie 650 shines again
Hey everyone,
Just got back from a nice 2 week holiday with my P650 and I can say that this bike just keeps impressing me. Me, my girlfriend, my buddy Chris with his P650 and his dog decided to go on a 4 day camping trip up the Nepisiguit River in New Brunswick. This salmon rich river runs throught some of New Brunswick's highest mountains. So we started planning our trip, and we started to notice that we would have to bring a lot more gear then we could actually strap to our ATV's. So we decided that we would load my 4x8 utility trailer with all our gear, and that I would pull it behind my bike. We figured that the trailer probably weights about 400lbs, and we probably had about 350-400 of gear to load inside of it.
So on the day we left for the trip, it started pouring rain and we decided that it might be a good idea to bring some firewood along, since we would be camping for 3 nights, and that the firewood that we would find on the trail would probably be wet. So we decided to load about 100lbs of firewood in the trailer also. If we seen that the bike had problems pulling the load, we would dump the firewood. So we took off with me ridding 2 up, and pulling probably just a bit over 900lbs behind my bike. On the first day we did about 60 miles of trail which included climbs up some pretty big mountains. I'm glad to report that the Prairie didn't miss a beat, and pulled the load without any problems. I ran in High gear all day long, and the bike would do about 35-40mph no problems. I was quite impressed with the pulling power of the bike. Especially going up hill.
We did about 350 miles in 4 days, and half of those where probably done with me pulling the trailer behind. It was quite a nice trip with plenty of nice scenery, and awesome trails. I'm also glad to report that we didn't have to ditch any firewood. It was put to good use keeping us dry all weekend long LOL!!!!
Here are a few pictures from the trip. In some of the pictures, you will notice firewood on the front rack of Chris bike. We had a bit too much to drink on the Friday night and got carried away with the wood burning. Our little pile disapeared. We had to go hunt for some more LOL!!!!
Enjoy

I knew someone was going to ask about the salmons LOL!!!
The one bad thing about the Nepisiguit river is that it runs all along crown land which is owned by the province. For this reason, the province controls the river. Because of this, the province leases sections of the water to private companies, and the sections that aren't leased, you are not allowed to fish in. So basically, you aren't allowed to fish this river for salmon unless you lease that section of the river. The river is very closely watched by rangers and officers, so we seen plenty of salmon, but we didn't eat any.

Great pics Dan,your trip is the kind of ATV road trip I dream about, pack up the quads and go! The comments about how rugged and reliable the 650 was for you on your trip is good news because there seems to be some negative feedback on the P650 lately in the forums. Thanks for sharing your pics with all of us .

It was an awesome trip, it rained the first day we left, but once we got to the campsite and got setup, it stopped raining. We only had 2 quick showers the next 3 days.
I really don't have any doubts about the reliability of the 650 as an everyday do it all quad that a person would put to regular use. I've had this quad in some pretty deep water and mud holes, and it's performed great everytime. But the reason why the 650 impressed me so much on this trip is because this was probably the most extreme conditions and environments that I put the 650 through. I really didn't know what to expect from the bike once you hook up 900lbs behind it, and start ridding two up, up some of the biggest mountains in our province. The bike really handled it like a champ and never gave me one single problem. I think it speaks very highly of this awesome machine.
