Default Tired of popping and dying at idle.

The Prairie 650 runs fine but seems to pop alot at idle. No backfiring just popping and stuttering. At speed it is fine. I always need to choke it to start it no matter the temp. I assume I need to adjust some carb settings but unsure as to what. Any ideas?

Turn the air/pilot screw's in (clockwise) until they seat, then turn back counterclockwise 2 1/2- 3 turn's out.......

YES, Stakk is correct. As per his recomendation to me it worked wonders @ 2.5 turns in north GA.
I will add that if your popping is durring engine breaking when the throttle is shut, your idle may be too low starving the motor for air. Bump it up a little bit.

Cool, I'll try that. Thanks. I don't have any popping during braking only at idle. I'll let you know.

Well I checked it out and the rear carb was at 2.75 turns out and the front was at 1.5 turns out. That was set at the store and is the way I have been running it. I changed this to 2.5 turns out front and rear. So by turning it in vs. out, which way is giving you more air? In or out? Out I would believe.

Thanks...

Out is richer=more fuel....In is leaner=more air, having them the way they were was probably throwing the carb sync off, stock is 2 1/4 turns out, 2 1/2 turn's out is a hair richer, should be fine there.....

Make sure both of your carb boots are sealed tightly to the carbs.
