Default P650 Thumb Throttle Position Adjustment

I really need to swing my thumb throttle down or more under the bar. I get a painfull kind of numbness after and hour or so. I loosened it up to try to spin it but it feels like it is pinned in place. I gave up to post it here to see if anyone has done anything withthis yet. Or possibly relieve the spring pressure?

There is a tab on the throttle housing that fits into a small hole on the handle bars.

You can probley just cut off that tab and adjust the throttle position and way you want it.

For me the postion is fine but i do agree that the spring tention is too high. A softer spring would be easier on the thumb.

I had the same problem, my thumb ached after a short ride.
I tried throttle extensions and that made it worse.
I cut a short piece of metal, bent a dogleg in it and tie wrapped it to the front of the throttle lever. The dogleg is bent 3/4 inch toward the front brake lever and is 1 inch longer than the throttle lever. I shaped it so I still have full throttle and it doesn't hit the brake lever. It solved my problem and has worked great for over 600 miles. A small piece of metal ,tin snips and two pieces of wood to clamp it in for the bends and you are in business.
The two tie wraps hold it perfect.

Thanks, I have the grips, and I will purchase a throttle lever and take it to work (Our Machine Shop) and see what we come up with for making another one or change the angle on it.

I'm working on installing a twist throttle ( kit is here... no time to install ) the one I'm trying is a Motion Pro, it is for the 400 Prairie... the only problem I can see is with the 4 X 4 select switch, which is part of the thumb throttle... means I'll need to trim off the tab on the unit, turn & push it up the bar further... this should allow me the room for the twist throttle unit...???... I'll have to try to get to it, in my spare time ...LOL... WAM

Keep us posted. Why are ATVs' not twisters anyway? I have never heard how this came about.
