Lakota - in general

One of my riding friends has a Lakota. It is a great trail bike with a good suspension and good power. It could pull away from my Honda 300 4x4 when I was at top end speed. The only problem he had with it was the rear shock leaked out and then the handling suffered on high speed rough trails. Kawasaki wouldn't replace the shock. The only mod he put on it was 22inch super swamper rear tires.

The guy has regular swampers on and not vamps. They are the same size as the stock 22x10x10(?) goodyears and have the same rim size and backspacing therefore there is no interference with the battery. I rode it this past weekend and it wouldnt go much faster than my foreman in the snow. But that was probably because it is 2wd and it was slick conditions. And they tend to slide around a little more than the stock knobbies at speed.

I ride a '00 400ex and my dad rides a '99 Lakota. He has put 22 inch Maxxis Sur-traks on the back and 23 inch titan 489's in the front both on 190 rims. He also has a PRM baja front bumper and six pack rack on the back with the plastics taken off. Plus the front shocks went out and he bought some works for the front. It is a very cool quad if you don't want a manual but want a sporty machine. He loves it and there's no fourwheeler that matches its performance and options. He wants a new Supertrapp IDS soon.
