i asked about the pink spring and now there is mention of all these others and what about these TPI vents? do they really make much difference? or what other airbox mods have worked for you? last but not least, what spring should i buy? i mostly ride in pits with big banks, love to jump and do wheelies. what do you guys think? if i buy a certain spring now, will i want a different spring when i pipe and jet? thanx alot for any info. -Sean

I have pro circuit headpipes and silencers on my V. I'm running the epi pro series kit with the red spring. I love to hillclimb, but alot of the hills I climb have little or no room to get your speed up. I like the red spring for this, it is a little to touchy trying to back up on off camber or hillsides though because it spins the rear tires abit unless you use the rear brake properly. I haven't tried any of the other springs because this one seems to work good for me. I do race some cross country events and the accelleration out of the turns and through the stretches is awesome with this kit. Oh yeah, did you say wheelies? How far do you want to ride them, or should I say do you have a long enough stretch for them with this setup? I'm sure the red spring is not for everybody, but it works great if you need it.

When you encrease the amount of fuel, you will need to add more air .. ( TPI vents ... or just holes in the box)
I have two TPI vents in my box.
I have both the red and pink spring. The red is raises the engaugement by about 1000 rpms...... too much for the trail riding I do. Can't get it on or off the trailer without spinning the tires. The pink sping only raises the engaugement about 250 rpm .. this will be true with or without other mods.
as for wheelies ... how long of a track do you have ???

vforcer, thanx. i was sure about ordering the pink then read some posts about the plain one. i have already read lots of posts on this, but most seem to be into dragracing, i thought that if i explained my riding style, that would help. i do think i'll go with the pink and two vents. i've taken my snorkal off and thinking about fabbing some sort of ram air like i saw in "atv sport (i think, maybe it was last months issue)" but not sure just how much that stuff would matter. i've done all sorts of backyard mods to my tacoma rockcrawler, some make a difference, some are just in your head, just hoping to see what you guys have come up with. as far as the wheelies, i'm not sure what you meant by track, but i'm gonna take it down to the airstrip where all the street bikes play and i think that if i play with rear tire pressures i'll be able to two wheel the whole thing unless i burn it up. i've had the oil light come on once during a long-slow wheelie. these things two wheel awesome, sitting, standing, kneeling on seat, one foot whatever. haven't dared try a one hander yet. my last quad was an '86 260r with pipe/reeds but that was about 14 years ago, so it's like i'm a rookie all over again. later-Sean
