In response to Mr Rojo in Lafeyette, quote "Hmmm, unless I totally misread the topic, this is WHY the man is desiring to put the custom bike together... " I was simply responding to Mr. Bigugly, who said " I am sure we'll never see a new two stroke quad from the big four." By stating the reason that we will not see anymore 2- stroke powered quads come 2006. So the topic being a killer quad with a time honored 2- stroke mill and a sub- topic of the unlikelyhood that will see anymore high performance 2- stoke quads from the big 4. Pardon me for any confusion....

My thoughts are that it would be a great MX and dune quad. I believe the 4 strokers have to bump up to 440 to stay competetive with a hopped up 250 2 stroke. I was also thinking there would be a weight advantage of replacing the thumper with a 2 smoke. If the KFX is good with the thumper engine, it should be better with a lighter 2 strk with equal or better power.

It is up to a Kawasaki enthusiast to do this. Otherwise, it would be simpler and cheaper to just buy the proven trx250r. I wonder how sales would be if Kawi would entertain this thought before the 2 strokes become illegal. Maybe Suzuki could reproduce the Quadzilla one more time. I believe they were produced to early and the market was not ready for such a behemoth.

I didnt expect the big four to build a new 2 stroke and was really surprized when GASGAS built the 300.

Certianly would be an excellent quad- especially for the dunes! If you have the means- by all means build it. It'll be sad to see the 2- strokes go, but our good freinds at the EPA and CPSC all need something to do..

I hear ya on this one.
It was one of the first thoughts I had when I got my KFX400.

I also was thinking of a KX500 in the KFX frame.

But my low budget swap I had in mind was Tecate 4 stickers on a KFX.

What I have had on my mind lately was a CR480 air cooled motor in a TRX400/TRX250 frame.
Would kinda look like a "blaster from hell".

I guess the world is a safer place since I don't have excess funds.

Y'know- to be honest, I had much the same idea in mind about cobbling something like this together. I had a KDX250, a healthy 1993 model. I entertained the thought of what it would be like to stuff that engine into my 'jave chassis. Guess I'll never know- as I traded in the KDX on the 'jave, got hurt too much, y'know..

You know it wouldn't surprise me that the Mojave frame is stronger than a Z/KXF 400. Just looking at them the Mojave's tubing it thicker and it just looks more stout. Heck, I think my Mojave looks like it is built like a brick sh!thouse compared to my KXF. Of course my Mojave is the same weight as the KXF.
