Default modding my exhaust......got a question

I pulled my pipe this evening for my father-in-law to take to work and mod for me. When I pulled the pipe the inside was VERY carboned up (black). Last time i pulled my plug it was also black. I'm assuming i'm running very rich. Is this what the evedience points to? Im planning on him drilling 6 1/2" holes and loosing the packing but leaving the tip with the arrestor on it. Will this help my rich condition? I'll check my plug after my next good ride with the moded pipe to make sure i'm still rich.

If i am still rich i'm going to do the NAPA radiator snork. I'm going to do this eventually anyway. but hopefully i'll not have to rejet with the two mods.

thanks for you opinions fellas

I think you will be ok on the jetting. If you start hearing popping or sputtering sounds coming from the carb area then that would indicate a lean condition. The spark arrestor on the endcap is very restrictive. Unless you just dont want the noise you should consider removing it also.

When you lop off the end of the muffler "can", you saw/cut right thru the spark arrester. I tacked some coarse S.S. screen (inside) over the outlet to discourage curious rangers, and /or rodents. I'll most likely do the same to my V-Force, as I am too poor to get a real exhaust system for it, right now. NO, you shouldn't have to re-jet it. I had a Twin Air element/filter and the Nyroc exh. mod on my P-650. I was fine in my area of operation: 900---2100 ft. elevation.

Default modding my exhaust......got a question

thanks for the advice fellas.

my father in law did the mod for me at work. he called and told me he could not find a 1/2" bit. the smallest he found was a 1" bit. He put three 1" holes through all baffles. I slapped it on the afternoon. Alls i got to do was let it idle and rev to about half throttle. I didn't think it made that much difference by my dad (who lives five houses down) came out and asked what the heck i did to my bike!!!! It does have a much deeper thump at idle and more dBs at half throttle. It does pop through the cards until it's warm but has done that since day one and the plugs read rich. I think it'll be ok. If i stay really rich i'll pick me up a NAPA rad. hose and slap it on.

Thanks fellers.
