Could someone that has a Bayou 300 2wd tell me how the mechanism works that makes the rear diff. lock/unlock? I was thinking about modifying my 220 to do the same thing if possible. Any help appreciated.

 

I don't think your Bayou 220 has a differential at all; instead, you have a final drive with rear wheels "spooled," like virtually all other ATV's.

The Bayou 300 2WD is the only ATV to my knowledge with a rear differential.

You might consider a rear differential transplant, from a Bayou 300 2WD to your Bayou 220; however, I imagine that project sits in the "too hard" box.
