The latest Dirtwheels magazine has a good article rating the Lakota pretty high. The only thing that I disagree with is they state the top speed of 60-65 on a stock unit. Probably a little exaggerated. More like 53-58, but that's par for Dirtwheels to do that. Jeff: 97 Lakota, 97 Recon

Oh, I read that also. I just thought "not quite" when I saw the top speed of it.

I just read that about 30 minutes ago. I never really looked at either of those two bikes much, but I was thinking Damn! when I saw their speed figures. If they were that fast, then I would think that they would sell more of them.

Hehehe, just about everything is "60-65" in Dirt Wheels. The 400ex, Scrambler 500, Sport 400, Warrior, and now the Lakota. Can't wait until they test the LT80.

According to GPS readings on multiple runs over the same stretch of road, my totally stock 97 Lakota averaged about 54mph. But then my 97 Warrior only did about 2mph faster. Maybe I just have a weak right thumb.

I have a 98 Lakota with several mods; Manual clutch, cam, jet kit, UNI Filter, lots of weight reduction and it does good to get to 65. Dirtwheels is always off on the MPH.
