Debating on trading in KFX400 for a KFX700

I bought a KFX400 (first ATV) this last January and loved it. However, I'd like to get more power for the dunes, but, I hear the belt drive and weight are negatives on the 700. I'm debating on the dollar hit I'd take and if it would be worth the upgrade. Thoughts or testamonials anyone?

I have to agree with Force...
The money you would save from the transactions (selling the 400 for less and buying a more expensive 700) could be put in that quad and it an even better sand machine...it is pretty good stock compared to others. If power is what you need you can get good deal on rev limiter/cam kit from yosh or several different 440/450 kits that make that KFX a monster.
Couple things you will not get however is the immediate power that automatic gives you as you seem to always be in the peak of the powerband and that ground clearance. On trails I cannot say how much of an advantage the 700's ground clearance is...It is minimal impact for me as i ride my P650 in most mountain trials and the KFX 400 on the dunes...but in semi-rough trials almost every sport bike that rides with us wishes for that 700's clearance.
KFX 400 and 700 are great machines...in the sand however I would invest into that 400.

Do what I did. I couldn't decide what to do so I kept the 400 and got a 700.
No, but honestly, I prefer my 400 in the Dunes, because I like the ability to shift up and down when I want to. I also like the light weight and nibble feel of the 400. With that said, I have been pretty consistent about portraying the 700 as too Heavy for the Sand. We spent 2 weeks at the Oregon dunes this Summer, and I had the opportunity to jump from back and forth from one Quad to the other. Here is what I discovered.
The 700 climbed ANYTHING I tried to go up and it did it with more ease than the 400 would. On top of that it would continue to accelerate the whole way, (Unfortunately, this was also true when coming down the hills). That was as far as hillclimbs were concerned. On the flats and mild Dune areas, it still feels heavy and tends to tired you out quicker than the smaller 400 does, but for the average rider it will work in the Sand just fine.
I still stand by my earlier statements concerning the 700. I feel even stronger than ever before that it is the Best 2WD Trail quad ever built and I personally would never choose my 400 over my 700 for a trip into the woods. So I guess it depends on what type of riding you do the most of. If it is primarily Woods with a little Dune action thrown in now and then, Definitely go with the 700. If you ride mostly Sand, keep the 400 and invest the money you would have spent purchasing the 700 and put it into the 400.
Overall, the 700 is the more versatile of the 2. If I was forced to choose between one or the other, I would choose the 700.
