Maxxis Bighorn Radial
#1
I took off the stock duncraps and soft stock wheels, replaced with C series wheels and bighorn radials.
I cant believe the difference, the quad is so much stiffer and controlable, the visual factor is awesome.
I would strongly recomend all serious trailriders to throw away the stock shoes and get the radials. I
never thought it could be so drastic, perhaps now I wont need the progressive frnt shocks. Gotta go
put some miles on these bad bighorns. I was considering the mudlites until I heard of durability problems,
like I said do yourselfs a safety favor and get rid of those dangerous dunflops, shame on Kawasaki
putting such inferior shoes on such a class machine. My dealer says he gets alot of wrecked prairies
in for repairs, I wonder if that is why Kawasaki still uses this pathetic tire. Keep on Quadin!

Yep, I forgot to mention that , when I bought my ATR's last spring, they were ONLY available in 25'". That did not concern me, I WANTED the stock sized tire.
Wonder if the BigHorns come in larger sizes? Haven't looked yet.................

How's the ride on the bighorns compared to the Dunlops? Also, how many plies? I'm looking at radials for my AC 375 and I want to keep a smooth ride but gain traction and handling.
How are they in sand? There couldn't be a worse tire than the Dunlops in sand.
I'm considering Carlisle Badlands XTR's--they are 6 ply and supposedly have a good ride and handling. I'm also considering the Goodyear Rawhide MTR's that came on my 650. They are fabulous, but I want a 25" and I think they only come in 26" size.

I am compelled to defend my stock tires LOL.
First of all, I only like the stock tires and not the wheels. Reasons I like the stock tires are they are very light weight for drag racing. You will not find a better tire for that application. Because the sidewalls are so fexible, gives the tires the chance to conform to every obsticle you cross over. Logs, rocks, rutted hills the stock tires flex to match the terrain better than any "stiffer" tire ever could. This will actually give you better traction than you think. The ride is noticably smoother with less vibration than the ATRs.
Only draw back to this is the stock tires are more flat prone and are not worth a dime for fast trail riding as the tires have more body roll. I rode my stock tires for over 500 miles without a problem with the tires. The wheels were another story.
