Boring holes in a 650 Airbox Lid....
I was reading on a site the other day, and it was talking about boring 8 - 1" holes in the airbox lid, and then installing UNI filter plugs to reduce water running in the holes.
Just for the heck of it, I popped the airbox lid off my AC 650, and I can only get 1/4-1/2 throttle before the engine almost dies. I ordered a jet kit so I can fix the jetting, but I was wondering if you guys with P650's, if you leave it in neutral, remove the airbox top, and then blip the throttle, will the engine rev right up (or sputter and die)?
If I look in the airbox, the snorkle opening is just marginally bigger than one of my carb openings (so there's obviously a bunch of power to be gained if I can feed her more air....)

don't fool with drilling out your airbox. Take off the stock snorkle and replace it with a vehicle radiator hose. If the intake snorkes on the ac is the same as the p650 then go to NAPA and order Radiator Hose number 7335 or the diamong G snorke. I'm not sure if the intake setup is the same on the two bikes though.
maybe someone else can tell you if my suggestion will work.

After I posted that, I did some reading, and then went back and looked at the airbox.
The hole leaving the airbox is 2" in diameter, and the snorkel immediately tapers to 1 3/4".
So, I'm either doing the rad hose, or some larger PVC fittings and making a new one.
Thanks.

What I use is some central Vac flex hose. Pick some up from Home Depot in thier central vac part area. 3 feet will cost about 13 bucks!
Cover up those air hole you drilled and install a second snorkel. IF you have room on the Artic Cat

I was at HD today looking for goodies that would work. I didn't drill the holes yet, but it looks like I can just use 2" pipe to replace the original snorkel, and I can get all the air I want...... Just gotta wait for my jet kit to come in so I can do it!
