P650/700 motor problems.

Sorry if I pissed off anybody, but I'm just speaking of my personal experience and what I've been reading. Apparently Kawasaki doesn't create all P650's equally. At the time I took mine to the mechanic, they had another P650 motor sitting on the bench that they had just replaced the main bearing and it only had 7 miles on it. I don't neccesarily think the compitition is better, but I just think there's too many bearings going bad, not to mention the third belt in only 2200 miles. I'll admit, I ride my P650 hard but no harder than any other Kawasaki I've had, and I've never had problems like this. I'm mostly mad at myself for not buying the extended warranty, because it would have paid for itself already. I admire Honda for wanting to stay away from belts, and if they could have gotten that hydrostatic transmission to work on the rincon, I'd buy it in a minute.

I think the thing to keep in mind is that you rarley hear about people not having problems. When your happy you don't complain. Each quad is good and bad in thier own way.
I have a p700 (& a p360 for my wife) and ride regularly in the rockies with a couple friends on rubicons and have ridden the rubicon and the Prairie is by far my favorite (of course because I own it if I like something else better i'd be riding that). The braking is way better on the prairie's and from what I understand the rincon does not have a low range which is a huge issue for the tough off roading we like to do. Supposedly the rincon has a low enough first gear if you use the ESP mode but to me why buy an automatic to have to shift manually to do the riding I like to do.
As far as the belt drive tranny you just need to use low range when you need it so you don't stress the belt. I usually spend about 50% of my day in 4x4 and low range. The way I look at it is if I need traction I should be in low range. So far we have had no problems and will adjust both belts this winter. I personally like how it keeps the RPMs right in the power band as it makes it very responsive.
Longgun when you get a bike drop me a line and we can ride.

People rarely look for sites like this when their bike is running tip top. When they have a problem though, they come straight here and post it up. I think it gives you the wrong impression.
I in turn dont admire Honda for not seeing the potential in a belt drive and trying to better it. That would help us all if they got on board. But their market depends on what they have their customers believing: "belt drives are bad"
edit: sorry mike, took me that long to type this!
