Default Kids don't ride snow covered hills.....

as you can flip backwards!!!! Thats what happened yesterday, I'm still in shock that it actually happened to me, my first roll over ever, on a quad. There was this hill that I always climb up with my V in the summer time, no problem at all. So I goto that hill go half way up it and roll back down to test it out. Looks good, a little bit of snow on it but not to bad. So I turn around and get some distance and hammer the throttle. As I'm going up the hill I have this bad feeling that I shouldn't be doing this because I'm wearing winter boots and gloves, not the best equipment to be wearing for responsive riding. There was this bump at the top of the hill, I hit it with the front tires and they popped up. Next thing I know I'm at the top of the hill with one side of the quad on the flat ground and one side hanging over the hill side. I lean with all my might to the flat side to try and make it so it doesn't tip. That never worked and I felt the quad going over, I fell off onto the hard sand. Good thing I had a helmet or else I might be in the hospital. I look up and see my quad making a racket tumbling down the hill. I thought to myself, NO NO NO NO, this can't be happening. It was, I slid down the hill to the quad and checked out the damages. I looked it over and it would not run as the dash was destroyed. So I start walking back to the road and I met someone with a truck and we loaded it up and took it to my house. Started up the P650 and dragged the damaged V into my garage.

From what I can see this is what is damaged and needs replacing:

-tie rods
-front and rear plastic
-handlebars and all the controls and dash mounted on them
-might have a bent left rear rim, the tire was flat so it either broke the bead, damaged the tire or bent the rim to hell.
-axle looks good so far

I will look it over in detail later on and try to spot other busted up components. I have it insured for fire, theft and collision so I'm covered and I think my deductable is only $200, I was going to change it last week at renewal but I never.

Thats my story, I just can't believe this happened to me, I'm still in shock, its like a dream or something. When I walk into my garage I now see my busted up V, very sad.

Yah, I'm OK, my butt is a little sore. Its only parts, I never got mad either. I talked to Manitoba Public Insurance and it sounds like this will go rather easy. I will know more by Friday. I guess I will have to ride my P650 now.

Brent... glad you are OK... Just like a 16 year old, with a new license... you gotta learn how to drive in the snow ...LOL... hills have always made me nervous... I don't like it if you can't make it up & ... the wild ride down... I had the same lesson last winter with my Prairie... except that there was a little drift at the top... I lost traction busting through the drift, & had to ride it backwards down a short, but very very steep hill... I was trying to decide if I was going to bail or not, & ended up kind of 1/2 on 1/2 off, riding it down the hill & into some trees... only a little plastic damage, as it gets so brittle when its cold... again, glad you are OK, & insured

Hope you're okay Brent. If you got to my webshots page and see the embarrasing pic, I tore my rotator cuff when I landed nose hard one-handed. I landed it one-handed because I didn't want to hurt the shoulder I separated earlier this year. D'oh.

click here for an embarrassing pic that had to be shared.

I will have pictures up tomorrow guys, its not all that bad. It just sucks that it happened.

I've done one of those landings 2lman, both hands though. Well it wasn't this quad but the Z400, it knocked the wind out of me pretty good. It sounds like I can get the work done in my town at the local shop, the insurance company is being very leanent with this situation so far. I would hate to drive it 3 hours to the nearest town so that some shop can appraise it and fix it and take god knows how long. If its in town I can check up on it and help the guy work on it.

I still can't believe I did something that dumb, I should of known better. I don't know what I was thinking.

I am sure you will have it back together for the ride with me and Alltoys next summer. Who know, it may even be faster

Holy smokes, that is one unhappy looking V-Force. Glad you are OK though. It would be interesting to see what that hill looked like...
