Not to sure you might want to have the valve clearence checked aslo , How many miles do you have on it ? My dealer said the valve clearence should be checked/adjusted about every 700 miles or so.

Saw this problem on an old suzuki quad runner, we took it in and it was the valves. They had never been adjusted. Sounds like its time for yours to be.

I'm not sure but I belive if you're exhaust valve is not opening as much as it should then the burnt gases canot get cleared out of the cylinder they way they should causeing the motor to run hotter than it needs to.

Mudnut hit the nail on the head. Burning hot exhaust gasses allready pressurized cause lots of heat when they cant get out on time, this will make your manifold red hot. Lots of people complain about running lean or rich on here, and none of them have said anything about red hot exhaust. Im still leaning towards a valve adjustment.
