the PRI on the fuel valve means primer it lets the fuel run straight to the carb for cold wether starts.

Default Help.. Vforce exhuast pipe full of gas

I just got off the phone with a dealer service technician. He stated very confidently that this would never happen a again if I set the fuel switch to PRI when I'm not using it. I hope he's right. If he's wrong, I may just add my own on/off switch. He also said the plugs can be wet fouled, so they may need to be cleaned or replaced.

Also, would a high idle speed have the same effect as a piece of dirt in the needle valve? I have turned my idle speed up a little to prevent backfire because turning out the fuel screws 3 1/2 turns did not completely fix that problem.

You don't have a owners manual? It should be in there. I don't have a service manual for a V-Force, but I have one for my P650, which doesn't have pri. Like Christoblue said "PRIMER". Don't leave that on. Check a manual and show your dealer tech is wrong.

DONT leave it on PRIME. its bad. i dont know why that guy said that. like christoblue said, it lets gas go right to the carb. my Z has the same thing, on, PRI and reserve. no "off". Im not sure what the problem is, but dont leave the thing on "PRI"

I'm nominating myself for the moron of the year award. I figured out why it was leaking. I left the choke on. And dont use PRI like my dealer technician told me. Not only is he a moron, but he gets paid to come up with crap like that. The PRI setting just leaks faster.

I'll have to admit, I've done a couple of sniff tests myself I'm glad that's all it was.
