Why does a company like Honda or Kawasaki come out with a quad like the Tecate or the 250r, and then just stop making them? These are the quads everyone wants, but these two major players can't seem to figure that out.

They are too busy making quads that haul hay and pull stuff around. That is where their big sales are. Why? Because the age of the person that can afford a 4-wheeler is higher and 90% of those people want something a little more sedate (in my opinion). Remember, years ago 2500-3000 would buy a high performance ATV. Now it will cost $5500 up. As the price on quads keep going up, so will the average age of the buyer!

Gary, Where have you been hiding the past few months, we're sitting on the brink of a new golden age in sport ATVing and if you haven't noticed everyone is pumped. We'll soon have not only all of the big four producing sport machines again but all of the others such as Cannondale, Bombardier, Gas Gas, Husaberg, and surely others to follow. Of course sport sales were slow when there were no new models available but as the manufacturers seem to be realizing we are actually the segment most willing to spend to get the machines we crave.

Got to agree with Gary, the average age is up and the cost is up so older more financially secure people are buying the majority of ATV's, the trails are full up here of older 50 and up people on utilty quads. Even I drive a Sportsman at 31. Though I do hope they make quads that all people want so the market keeps growing. what I would like to see is a Ninja 600 motor in a sport quad. 12 inches all the way around of suspension and 4 wheel drive.

4 wheel drive? Sounds like you are one of the utility riding masses up there. Of course its what you're seeing on the trail, nobody has been producing anything else but I assure you high performance rules the roost at the riding areas here in Arizona.
