Info on missing swingarm plugs; P650,700, V700

If you are missing a rubber plug in the swingarm, here is the lowdown. If the plug is missing from the left side of the assembly, you are safe; the left side is isolated from the swingarm bearings and anything else that could be harmed. If you're missing a plug from the right side and water or mud has entered, you will have to pull the swingarm off; the swingarm bearings, propeller shaft and the bearings and seals going into the brake assembly have been exposed to contamination. Found out the hard way; pulled off the swingarm due to a missing plug on the left side only to find out that I wouldn't have had to. Oh well, the peace of mind is worth something, I guess. FastEd - the plug under the swingarm was still there.
kodiac 1 - the plugs are all the same; if you're on the trail and you find one missing from the right side, you can replace it with a plug from the left side.

Call me an idiot, but after reading this post I checked mine (04 P700). There are no plugs on the "passenger" side of the swingarm. I found two on the "driver's" side; both were installed. Could Kawi have made a design change?

Does it have any holes at all on the passenger side? If it does and they're not plugged, I'd be very concerned. Look through the open holes on the right (passenger) side. If you can see the propeller shaft, you have a problem.

They must have gone to a new casting for '04, and that's a good thing. I think the only reason for the holes was that it was part of the manufacturing process.

I have an '03 P650 and was checking the swingarm plugs. On both of the sides, they are all there. I removed the rear axle skid plate and looking from the back of the machine on the left side (right next to one of the 8mm bolts that secure the skid plate) , there is a hole in the bottom of the swingarm with no plug. Is this a drain for moisture or do I need to get this hole plugged?
