oops got carryed away and posted it before i wrote something...


i was riding my p 650 on the snowy roads tonight and i went bout 20 miles and the thing started popen and missing and the dash went out and the 4wd isnt working. whats the matter with it? i had to ride 20 miles goin about 4mph to get home which sucked. does anyone kno it i hurt anything by doing this? thanks oh yea in gear it flashes the reverse light and in nutral it flashes nutral and reverse.

 

you have probably trip the belt switch... remove the belt cover & flip the on / off switch on the top / inside of the cover...

 

There is a switch in the belt housing like the above post states. The purpose of this is so that when you belt starts to wear it will trip this switch and cause a rev limiter action to safely get you home so a broken belt won't leave you stranded.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

yea i went and checked on that and the switch was fliped... and my belt was breaking up inside that thing too

 

How many miles are on it at this point?

 

I am curious.....how many miles and hours do you have on it now? Just wondering how much you got out of your belt.

Keep an eye on the battery terminal connections, too. That will cause much weirdness, bad running.

 

I don't know what you guys think about this built in feature but I think it's damn cool. It's far better to creep back home than get towed.

 

iv gone through 2 belts in 800 miles... thats crappy aint it? yea well i wish i had a buddie who could toe me home from 20 miles away cause that creepen stuff sucked

 

Can't we make the belt switch box removable from the outside. Reverse the mounting fasteners so if it trips we can pull it off and ride it on home. Or how about an in-line override?
