Default Newbie with Prairie 360 question

Hi, I've been lurking for a while, seems like a good site with great info. I am considering picking up a used 2003 360 4x4 and have a couple of questions. First, does anyone know if yu can just purchase the speedo and plug it in, or do you need to get the sensors and wiring harness as well? And, I have read in a few places that the 360 is supposed to have a check belt and 4x4 light, but the unit I am looking at does not, does anyone know if this was optional or is something missing?

Thanks.

The speedomoter comes with the wiring harnes & all you have to do is remove some top plastic to get to the other wiring harnes & plug it in, real easy. Good idea to get one as well, as they are only around $100, kawi should just put them on & increase the price another $100 if you ask me..

Yea ALL P-360 come with a check belt ligt, it is right next to the 4x4 light. Good choice of machines, I am very happy with mine. Only thing I would forwarn you about is make sure you or your dealer keeps the belt tight so you dont have any belt slippage (you'll hear it if it happens) & get your valves adjusted say at around 500 miles of use, the 360 exhaust valve typically gets out of specs real fast after break in & causes it to die all the time, but 1 adjustment & your good to go from there.. Happy riding

Odd, I wonder where the 4x4 and belt lights went? I guess I need to look further. I agree on the speedo thing, $100 should not be a deal breaker for a unit like this. However, I already found on online, so, since I know I can just drop it in, I will order it.

Thanks for the tip on the belt and valves, I have owned Kawasaki Motorcycles for years, and have spent my time checking and shimming valves!

I just bought the same bike. I would like to see if you bought and installed the speedo yet. If you have how was it and what was the website that you found it on. Thanks

I have ridden a 360p for 1 1/2 yrs now & no trouble. great handling machine . wife got me the speedometer for xmas & it took only about 30 mins to install . hookup was simple .....it took me longer than most because I have flipped it a few times & the bolts holding the front rack were a little bent..lol..
speedo works great.... lit up & easy to reset the trip meter

Buy American, America!

Love my 360, although it's a 2004. Virtually indentical to the 2003 I believe... I still haven't installed a speedometer yet. What was involved with doing that?

installation is simple... remove front rack & fenders ( you have to do this to reach the connectors ) , remove the center plastic Kawi cover on handlebars , install the speedo in the hole . fastened to the steering column is a small plastic bag with 3 wires running to it . remove the bag & plug in the connectors on the speedo ( they are colored wires so you cannot get them wrong ).
hopes this helps , mine came with no instructions so I had to search ( & scratch my head a few times ) to figure out the installation. really quite simple...

I put one on my daughters 360. Except i accessed the wires by unscrewing and pulling back the left hand inner fender plastic. I would imagine thats a lot faster and easier than removing the rack and plastic. Just my two cents.

I believe thwe 2wd version also has a hour meter under the seat. Why not put that on all of em?

The light should be obvious and there should be a switch on the rt handlebar.

BTW did the spring mod take away from your top speed?
