Carb settings
#1
I just spent the LARGE on some parts for the KFX. Complete Yosh SS system/spark arresstor, Edelbrock Quicksilver carb/twist throttle, Pro flow air box adaptor/ K & N filter and outer wears cover, snorkel off/ lid off. Where do I start with needle adjustment and/or different needle. I have some experience with these carbs, Just got done with Son's EX440 Honda, We had to go with the larger needle(#25) and 26 clicks out on the adjuster, might still need 1 size larger on the needle. I want to be close the first time, too much trouble to pull off all the plastic to get to the carb, especially when your out at Glamis where I normally ride.
Thanks Bob J

Bob....I think you will need a jet kit......each kit should have recommendations regarding altitude, needle settings and what size mains to run.....I have the Moose Dynojet kit. Read some previous post and maybe you will find what your looking for.

Dude...Bob, you're making Californians look like jerks. I'm sure someone would help you if they knew the answers. Have you tried to post under one of the other forums within ATV connection? Some people there might have delt with edelbrock carbs. Good luck man wish I could help...

Dude, Mudfoot, I wish someone could help also, I can't believe NO one has one of these carbs. I am NOT a Calif. Jerk, But I got some help from Glamis Dunes .com and z central.

Well NOW I can post some help!! I put the carb/pipe/filter on and it ran pretty good. Still some minor issues to deal with when I can ride it full bore, but nothing major. Be aware the carb takes some tinkering to get to fit and run right, but WELL worth the effort. Thanks Guys

What is it you would like to know about E Brock carbs?? I have worked on 2 of them now, My Son's Honda EX440 and my KFX400. The Honda is easier to get on and off (Pull some plastic and fuel tank), except for the needle adjuster and accel pump you need to remove carb to change float level or needles.
The Suzuki/Kawi need to change crankcase vent system and upper motor mount, so I pulled both front and rear plastic and fuel tank. Had a little problem with getting the carb as level as possible so that it doesn't overflow (Might have to lower float level a smidge). Also had a problem with the petcock, instructions said prefered way is to not hook up vacuum hose and run the petcock in prime position ( NO reserve), well it did not work very well so I hooked up the vacuum hose and ran the petcock in run position and it runs great!! Still need to fine tune it when I get somewhere I can ride it full tilt. Mine has out of the box settings so far, #17 needle and 12 clicks out of 32 clicks, My Son's has a richer needle # 25 and 26 clicks out (Leaner), they give you 1 leaner and 1 richer needle in case you need them. $440.00 for the Kawi/Zuki cause of the extra mount I guess?? The Honda was $389.00 from Golden West. Let Me know If you have any other questions, I have a Full Yosh SS system/spark arrestor and Pro flow adaptor/K & N filter with Outerwears wrap (water resistant) and air box lid off and snorkel off, If you want to run the air box lid/ snorkle you have to cut off some rivets in the cover and remove a baffle??
