Default P-650 CDI box

Ok my eyes hurt. I have read post after post about DG's black box the unlimiter. Is this thing dead or alive. There is so much info out from so long ago it's hard to sort out. I do like the one that says it will make you hover, that sounds like a few of my off trail adventures. If there is some new news out there please post otherwise I'm getting a low end module. May not hover, but sounds like you can fly.

I'd wait a while before I pulled the trigger on any ignition mods just yet. IMO the stuff that is out there so far is smoke and mirrors. The best is yet to come.

That's just it, that sum’s it up perfectly, the best is yet to come. Can't find anything that hasn't been posted way back in sept. or whenever. I see allot of post that say it's coming and they go back to last year. I know this Dan guy has got to be close to being postal with the whole thing, but what (or when) am I waiting on.

Davinator, Just so you know, you will still need the low end module or holeshot with the unlimiter if it really comes out. Only a complete igniter replacement would not require the low end device. MSD has been working on that for almost two years now, so who knows what is going on with that?

...I'm not in cahoots with anyone, but the vicious rumors point to the "Unlimiter" not working as planned. I'm holding out for a complete CDI, programmable or not.

FYI:
I called Diamond G earlier this week to check the status of the unlimiter module. They told me that the unlimiter was pushed back to the R&D dept. (having some problems with it) and it will now be another few months before its ready for sale. That's all I know.

Happy trails...

Mikey, noticed you have holeshot with on\off switch. I read that these modules tie into pink wire and give a boost, to put it short. Is there so much extra that you have to have this switch. I see several mods with the switch and it leads me to think you have to tone it down a bit to ride. I rode a tricked out Raptor the other day and the front wheels don't touch the ground that much. I know that a 600 pound P isn't going ride like that, but do these modules give it that much punch that a switch is necessary?

IMO, the switch is NOT necessary for most riding situations. The extra boost of the holeshot is only noticeable when you have very good traction (i.e., on pavement or dry, grassy field) AND you hit WOT from 3 mph or less. If you hit WOT while travelling 3 mph or less and you are on loose soil/sand/mud, the only noticeable effect is more tirespin. If you hit WOT at 4 mph or above, the holeshot does not come on.

Honestly, the only times I use my switch is when my wife rides it on pavement or when I do slow, steep rock climbing. Sometimes when I do slow, steep rock climbing, I hit WOT to get over/past a tough obstacle and that is exactly when I don't need any surprises! The other 99% of the time, my switch is turned to on.

Happy trails...

Thanks for the info, rock crawling is what a group of us are going to do next weekend, in Tellico N.C. More likely we will sit in our cabin and talk about how cold it is. But thats what good times are made of.

Do you have to have the DG module with the "unlimiter". I have read more stuff ( my eyes are starting to bleed) and people say hold off the unlimiter is coming but I'm reading other stuff that indicates that the unlimiter is for mid to top range and not low end.
