The best advice I've seen on this subject is to get the spring with the heaviest shift you can handle.

They're cheap (20 bucks) so just pick one and try it. If you don't like it figure out what you don't like and get the next spring based on what you don't like about your choice.

If you want to drag don't bother with the EPI Pink or equivalent (0/161lbs).

One example would be to get the HPD Plain (55/216). You might like it.

If you don't like it it will either be because

a) it shifts too early and doesn't give you the acceleration you want or

b) it engages at too high an RPM and jacks you up in the trails by not giving you enough low end throttle control.

If it shifts too early then you change to a spring with a higher shift weight (you can do some tweaking by shimming it if it's close to what you want but not quite right). If it shifts too low then you're screwed and you need to go pink or stock and give up drag racing.

thanks, what about the epi red spring would that be too high of stall for trails ? Also I Can't order from epi because the only credit card I have is american express and they do not accept that, and dalton is in canada and I dont want to pay 20 bucks for shipping and handling. Do you know where I could buy a spring with my American Express ? ALso have u tried the HPD spring? does it drag good ?

Stock V Primary spring I belive is 0/122. The Dalton blue I hear is good for trails and top end, but the stall isn't much higher then stock, so it's not a drag spring. It could be hard to find a spring that will do both.

Phildog, try calling EPI and telling them what you want and get a total, then mail them a check. This will take a little longer cause they wait to send it until your check arrives. Just an idea
