I was wondering what kind of engine oil to use in my 02 650........the Kawasaki oil or can you use regular 10w30 motor oil? Thanks for any help...................Dave

 

you can use regular oil (auto oil) if you want but you may want to consider a motorcycle specific oil. It should have the letters MA or MB on the bottle, the mb oil will contain moly which is a slippery additive that will harm a wet clutch but will reduce wear and friction on applications without a clutch or those that have separate tranny and top end oil

It starts better in cold weather, and runs cooler in the summer. It also steers easier in 4 wheel drive with it in the front end. It has not affected the locker
at all. I am still pulling my two nephews and there Grizzly's out of the mud
holes on a regular basis!

Look at Amsoils website. They have a new ATV specific oil called 4 stroke 0W-40. (I used the 10W 40 motorcycle before) The new oil's supposed to be even better for ATV's....

I'm such a believer in the stuff that I just became a dealer last week.. they have great products.

 

yes I heard that the mobil 1 15-50 is one of if not the best out there ( a little thick for winter though imo )

 

I've been running Mobil 1 15/50 redcap in my quads for 5 years. You can get a gallon of it at Wal Mart for around $18. It runs cooler in the engine, and you can go a lot longer between oil changes.

 

Valvoline now offers oil two new motor oils, one made for 4-stroke and another for 2-stroke motorcycles and ATV's. However the only place where I have found it here in the Houston area is at Auto Zone. I switched to it soon after I noticed but can't tell if there's much of a difference in using plain ole Valvoline.

 

I have been a mobil one user for alot of years, people told me i was crazy to spend that money back then but now i have a van with 280,000 on it and its original motor and tranny neither have been touched, I run it for 8,000 between changes, its definately worth the extra $. just my 2 cents worth.

The 0W-40 is a great cold weather oil. Check it out. I run it in my Mohave and 400EX with great results.
