Default A quick question on 700 Prairie ...

I was just wondering if any one knows if the prairies magneto can run the quad with a dead battery.
And has anyone used thier pull start ... one pull or what ?

I don't know about the 700 but the 650 doesn't like runnig with out a battery. The engine brake speedo and the 4wd system really gets confussed with a dead battery (Lights work but weaker). I personally don't like a dead battery (LOL) because when my fan kicks in I want to be assured it's getting all the power it needs to cool my bike down. Pull start can be a one pull if you decompress it first.

Sorry.... Not to say my bike is better than yours LOL Up in canada the praires have a little round **** on the right side under the airbox. You just press it in twice and it works like a primer an starting is a heck of a lot easier.

I believe it does both. From what I understand if you use the primer it has an automatic decompression.

It is my understanding that the decompression is automatic, it is controled by cam weights similar to what are in your clutch, once they are spinning fast enough, they move out to cover the compression release valve... I don't think the cams would be any different on the Canadian models... however the primer button would be a nice option for me, for cold weather starts...

as far as the original question, the kawi's electrical system is very sensitive... you may be able to get it to start when the motor / weather is warm, but I know from expirience, that if the voltage is at all low, it won't start in weather colder than 30* - 40* F

I still haven't done the washer / spacer trick to my pull start... it has been exposed to mud too many times, & in it's current state, is just an ornement... I've always found it easier to jump start it, rather than even try to pull start this big beast...

I pull started mine with a good batteryin 2 pulls with full choke @ 25 degrees F. I don't know why a primer is needed with an electric fuel pump?

Yes the auto decompression is weight controlled.
