It says it has 17 and a half horse power. I think mine runs good.

 

The only thing i can fault on it, is the weak front end. I got tired of fixing and rebending the suspension after normal usage.

 

i have nothing to complain about i had a 1990 for 7 years and it ran awsume all seven years. pretty good speed also about 548-50 mph, had to have more speed so i sold it.

 

I would buy an Ozark before a bayou, much better quad!

 

The wife has an 04 250 bayou. Pretty nice for what it is. Pretty descent power too.

my grandpa had a 1990 model bayou 220 only problem he had with it was that he had to replace the batt. right before he sold it to one of his friends, his friend still has it to this day and uses it on the farm no problems yet

A riding buddy of mine has an 02 bayou that he bought himself. He literally beats that thing like it defloured his last born daughter. (he is only 19 and has no kids, but you get my point). Yet, it goes through all kinds of muck and water given its light weight. It gets pretty good air and lands ok. And he's never had a problem with it. I guess you could say its one strong little bike.
