My dealer was telling me about that whole "rebate" deal. He didn't do it since it is quite difficult. You have to mail junk in like every few months and on EXACT days or it will be ineligible. Just be sure you read that fine print so you won't get stuck. He said it was close to being a pyramid sheme, that the people doing it are assuming only 5-10% will actually be valid and have to be paid. But if your good at remembering to mail stuff, which I'm not, it might be ok.

 

Figures it couldn't be anything simple. You are probably right in that they can get out of paying if there is one little minute difference in how the paperwork is handled. I wouldn't want to get stuck in something that complex if it is how you described.
