hey i just got done attempting to stiffen up my rear shock. after going through half a bottle of tri-flow on the locknut i gave up. how on earth to you get that @#%@~!@!@#$ thing loose!! that stock spaner wrench is a disgrace, tried to loosen it with a flat head screw driver and a hammer, all that did was eat that stupid locknut all up. so whats the secret??

Nightryder, Did you jack up the rear end or did you lift it by the frame and let the rear end hang down to take as much pressure off the spring as possible? I used liquid wrench to free up mine, and tap tap tap on the spanner with a small hammer. Transmission fluid , in a pinch makes a good penetrating fluid also. let it soak for a while. tap it in both directions a couple of times to help the fluid penetrate better, then spin it right off.

If this is the first time the shock has ever been adjusted, take the shock off the machine. The locknuts are overtightened from the factory. It only takes 5 minutes to take the shock off, then you can put it in a vise to loosen it up.
