Default Put my FST 785 kit into my Prairie "NAUGHTY"

Finished installing the FST 785 kit into my 2004 Prairie 700. This thing is naughty. Can't believe the power and the torque of this thing. Should have no problem spanking sport quads. Have a Yoshimura equipped 450 Z Suzuki and it gives it a run for its money. Anyone looking for that extra power, it has been found.

If some company would develope a extension plate(4 inch) for the V-force, I think thier would be A LOT more 785 kits bought. I can see that kit being alot more useful in the Prairie, because wheelies are more difficult. In the V-force that extra power would be almost be useless.

wait.....did I just say more power would be useless????

I totally agree. But that's ok. It's much cooler kickin *** on a 4x4. People just don't know what to think.

The FST 785 kit is a kit that, Mickey Dunlap's Four Stroke Tech offers for the v-force and prairie 700.
It bores and strokes your original motor(to a 785), you get some naughty cams, and a 11:1 piston.
The kit costs $1040 with core exchange and is worth every penny of it. It is the best dollar to hp item available for the V-twin.

Thank you for the info. It sounds like something I should look into. Was that a turn key price or did you have to send them the motor and re-install it yourself ?

1BADPRAIRIE785...OK, you're starting to scare me with your over use of "naughty"...LOL... I'd call my 750cc Prairie "nasty, scairy, dangerous"...lotsa adjectives... ( same kit as the 785 kit, but for the 650, it is a 750 kit, because of the stroke difference )... I had the heads flowed at the same time, & I'd go as far as to say that mine is down right dangerous.... man I love it... I smoked a stock Preditor with a factory rider on it, in a 200 ft informal drag... 700 V Forces are now play things for my beast...

I guess if I had read a little closer I would have seen that you just finished installing it.

1BadP,
Please give us a little more feedback on the improved performance with the big bore kit. For example, what was top speed of stock motor vs. top speed with big bore kit installed? What about doing wheelies from a dead stop or while moving? Even better would be timed drag test runs before and after the big bore kit install...but in any case, I'd be interested in hearing whatever results you can give us.

Happy trails...

Naughty is the only word that can really describe this beast. Here are some answers to your questions.
Top speed: I gained a couple miles per hour but that is all the stock gearing and clutching will allow. Wheelies: Wheelies are absolutely no problem sitting still or creeping about 10-15 mph or more. Drag results are still unknown, still working the final bugs out, but we should be lining up and comparing to other machines; v force, z-400, modified Yoshimura z-450, and anything else that steps up.
If you want Mickey Dunlap to install the kit you will be waiting a while. But if you want the kit, order it from FST, send the block off with new sleeves to be installed to place of your choice, send heads out to place of your choice, get stuff back and install. Any Kawasaki dealer should be able to assemble. If you need sources on where to get this stuff done, let me know, I was very pleased with mine.
The kit doesn't come with base gaskets, so if ordering make sure to order stock base gaskets so you have them when needed.
Hope this helped.
