i was jw about why the atv magazines put the 250 down so much!i mean that strong little bayou can pull through some serious mud without even wimpering, and the front shocks may need improvement but there feel is just like any other atv's..ive never had any problem's with my bayou and just about 2wks ago i installed a warn 1700 winch and it pulls realy good for the price, and ive never gotten that beast stuck but 4 times in 1.5yr's with about 70 rides, 3 of them were because i was still using the stock tires and 1 was because i hit GC in a rut in the middle of the road...but it is one of the best "bang for the buck" quads you can buy and everytime i hit the start button it cranks like a champ!so i see no reason for magazine's to say the bayou is a non performer because realy i think its right there with the game...well any other bayou owners have any comments about there 250 or 220?

I have had a 220 my daughter rides for 4 years, Never have had to do a thing to it but change oil, and plug once. I ride it too occasionally, and beat the sh*t out of it when I do. I runs like a top. I suspect
those who are rating it are sports quads lovers, and it don't fit their idea of a quad. It is also the
cheapest you can buy, so that will cause the quad-snobs not to like it right there.
Although some in this forum refuse to believe it, my 220 has beat every recon and 250EX it has ever raced in a short drag (100 yds). I am in the process of putting a full pipe, filter and jet kit on it, and it will beat them in a long drag then, too,

My family enjoys ours... It fit our needs perfectly. I wanted a stable, solid (not too sporty) quad that my 11 and 13 yr old could drive.
ignore the magazines...its easy to pick on the older (older yet proven) machines. They have done the same to the Yamaha Beartracker as well...

A good point dash. Many times we see people bashing older quads JUST because they are older
technology. Doesn't matter apparently that they are solid rugged, performers.
Look at the 400EX, it gets bashed continously, but it is probably the best all around
sport quad made for the average younger rider. But because it isn't the fastest, it gets bashed.
It being one if the best handling and most reliable sport quads ever made must not have any
pull with a lot of writers, and forum members as well. If it had reverse and electric start,
I would own one today.
I ain't into pushing and pulling. Too old for that stuff.

If you are happy with it, that's what counts. I had a 220 for 2 years, I thought it was fun to ride and had no problems with it except a bad battery at first. The only complaint I had with it, I thought the supension was to stiff. But I have a bad back, someone else might not mind. Keep on enjoying your ride and the hell with what other people think. lol
