limp home question
I posted the same question in the Arctic Cat forum. I havn't bought an ATV yet, but I have it narrowed down to the Prairie700 or the Cat650. I've been reading in the cat forums that the belt light has been tripping prematurely. I'm curious if this problem happens on the prairie aswell. ANy help and suggestions are greatlt appreciated.

limp home question
At 17 hours, my belt light tripped, and the reset procedure did not correct the problem (no, the belt isn't worn, and the switch on the PVT cover isn't tripped, either). Additionally, the actuator on the outside of the PVT cover failed in a partially engaged position. Also, the machine wouldn't go into four wheel drive. Several days later, as I was wheeling the machine out of the garage to head to the dealer, the actuator started to work again, but the belt light still won't shut off, and the machine remained in "limp" mode. It's been back at the dealer now for over a week. I'll post again when I learn what this is all about, but my gut feeling is it's an electrical problem.
RenegadeRider, if you like to ride hard-core boulder-strewn trails like the Rubicon or Tellico, or you like ultra long distance rides, then get the AC650. It's got the ground clearance you'll need, and a 6.5 gallon fuel tank. If you want a more sport oriented quad, get the Prairie 700.
