Default P650 improvements

The Kawi is not perfect, it has flaws. I have listed the flaws. We may not see these as flaws but many people new to ATVs will and will go to another manufacturer to get their perfect quad. People who surf these forums are probably 2% of the total people who own P650's. They may wish these things were fixed. There is no shame into having these brought up or fixed.

You say you like the diff lock the way it is. Who said it would be switch like the Grizzly, I said it would be like a Parking brake with different levels of diff lock. This would be good for you and for the people who want it hands free so they can diff lock and work something else at the same time.

I only know about a-arms and shocks and what is found on the Kawi, for the best bang for your buck a-arms and shocks are the way to go, like every other manufacturer has, except Polaris.

Frame redesign, is not cost efficient. We are talking about bang for your buck, the consumer wants the overall package that works and excells above other manufacturers. Currently we have a wicked motor, sporty package, nice diff lock, low center of gravity and weight. It can be so much more for very little effort on Kawi's part, they just need to refine the package so the average consumer can compare features and say Kawi beats them in all categories.

Its this simple, if Kawi wants to be number #1 and not #4 then they need to work for it. We on the forums work to make our Kawis work for us the way Kawi should of made it. Think of the CDI.

6) Belt deflection, secondary spring. Kawi could offer this as an option from the factory, black spring, removal of shims, better deflection. Minor to us but to the average consumer it leaves a bad taste in their mouth when the belt starts to smoke. Polaris is just recovering from their bad belt history.

Dangerous, I want to sit higher so my legs are in amore natural position. I know what you mean by the C/G, I feel it on the p360. I think thats why my buddies like the extra weight of the 589s. Heck i've even said that I'd feel better if them tires were full of calcium like my tractor tires.
I know if my eiger had that awsome power it would be way more fun. She sits lower and handles great. But I'm 6'2" and bad knees make me want a little more stretch room.

I'm 6 foot 4, and I also have bad knees, but the Prairie is comfortable for me. I guess it's all a matter of preference. I think its a great machine, and it has it's flaws, but if I had to do it over again, I would still buy it, no doubt about it!

Hitman---- Your P-700 DOES have a drain on the CVT cover.
I would agree that the frt. suspenders should be adjustable. I had to spent another $120 on Progressive Kit to MAKE MINE adjustable!
There is always room for improvement, but all,in all I believe KAW. did ONE HE!! of a good job in their design of the P-650/P-700s. Guess THAT is why I have owned 3 of the V-Twins in a year and a half. I just can't get enough of 'em! LOL

Where is the drain? I looked it over and felt around all I could but I can't find a plug. My Grizz is easy to find, it's behind the rear brake pedal. My owners manual says to put the bike in neutral and let the cooling fan inside the housing blow out the water when you rev it up, the only other way is to remove the cover according to the manual. I have seen people remove the front air boot at the CVT cover and turn the bike up in such a way that the water will run out.

Brent ) Diff lock, the way its handled now is just fine and works great. It would be nice if they can somehow make a locking mechanism, you can't always have your two hands on the handlebars, you might winching in your switch is on your fender or in some other strange spot. Or maybe your pushing a branch out of the way with your left hand and you need that diff lock. I would like to see it so that its like a parking brake but with different levels of locking. This would make things much better....

if you want it to lock on buy s small quick release strap and strap it to the handle bar.

Hitman-- it is a rubber plug, centered on the cover, at the very bottom edge. Just tug on it. I never used mine, but it was on both , my V-Force, and the P-700.

You must have a special p700, I can't find this rubber plug on my machine or on the OEM-parts finder KAW site. Did KAW forget to list it in there owners manual as a way to remove water from the belt? The OEM-parts finder does show the plug part# 92066-1580 plug, drain, 11x19 for the KVS 700. The CVT cover for the KVS700 is also diffrent from the KVF700. KVS700 cover #14091-1535 and the KVF700 cover#14041-1158. If you have a drain on both bikes you are special.

Yep, there are negatives: lousy black plastic, terrible factory Dunlops, but the main flaw, to me, is that the machine runs too darn hot. The fan is going a lot of the time and for long periods. I live in eastern Canada, I can't imagine how this affects you southern riders .I'm going to try some Water Wetter this spring to see if this helps. Am I the only one who sees this as a problem?
