Default which black spring?

Was looking at EPI's webpage today and came across 3 different black secondary springs for Kawasaki.
I have a Prairie 700 and don't know which one to get.

The springs are as follows:

Part # 2-1/2 " load 1- 1/4" load

PDS - 5 56 102
PEBS3 112 215 Listed as Black H.D. (EBS)
PEBS1 73 120 Listed as Black (EBS)
There is also a Blue listed in between the two EBS ones at 73 and 135 #'s

Which should I get?

Thanks
Chris

Default which black spring?

Hey DaRiot,
I bought my black seondary spring a couple of weeks ago and I didn't remember that many black ones listed so I went back to their website and tried to look at kawasaki clutch springs and it showed polaris instead. My part # is KSS7. Ihope it is the right one. Anyway, I thought you might want to look again. Maybe their site isn't working right.

They have bad links all over website. You are looking at polaris springs.

Follow the links from the left column on the page and you'll get there.

Here is the kawasaki secondary spring page.

Allright, I went to the website and read it, but I don't know what backshift is)Sorry, I'm new to belts)So a spring that's made for oversized tires wouldn't work well with stock sized tires?

Custom, what eastegg said is right. People with 28" tires should never ride without it since it makes the belt grip better. Also, people with small tires are using it to maximize their belt life too and make takeoff firmer. I think it benefits everyone.

The black spring does not really make the biggest difference in the world. You will notice rpms a little higher at low speeds mostly. Some people have claimed they lost 1 or 2 mph, but you can get that back using minor performance mods. Other people say it has no effect on top speed.

The primary spring is a completely different animal. You need to make sure you get the right one or you won't like it. Weights will really make a serious change, whether that be a good or bad change.

Backshifting is the opposite of upshifting. It is a term used to describe CVT operation similar to downshifting that happens automatically when you let off the gas. The more backshift, the more the engine braking works. By the way, the secondary clutch is resposible for engine braking at all speeds except when you are going slow. The KEBS system is only needed when you are going slow.
