Bayou Diff. Probs....
#1
I have a 98 Bayou 300 4X4. Got it for a good deal because the guy selling it thought it would need a new front ring and pinion gear as the front wheels werent turning and the rest of the driveline looked good. I pull the diff and open it up and am surprised to see that every single bolt holding the ring gear to the diff gear housing has backed all the way out and has been rubbing on the case. Curious if anyone else has had this problem, Judging by the untouched condition of the bolts holding the diff case plate on i assume that i was the first one to open this up leaving only to assume that they were not properly tourqed/installed from the factory. The gears themselves are in fair enough shape that i will ride them this next summer season till i can buy a new pair. Also going to open up the rear diff and make sure im not having the same trouble back there... Any comments would be appreciated.
