valve adjustment gone wrong
#1
I adjusted my valves exactly the way the manual says(twice). My problem is when i try to hold a steady throttle it cuts in and out like it runs on one cylinder for a little while then kicks back in. It does it through the whole range except for idle. It revs up real good and you cant really tell anything is wrong unless you hold the throttle steady. What did i do wrong?

If I had to guess, I'd say you didn't. If a valve is hanging open you will almost always have a miss all the time. If your valve is loose, you will just loose a little lift and be down a tad bit on power.
I got through with a race motor yesterday and I chassed a soft miss for 2 hours. It was a brand new motor, so like you I ran the valves again, did a compression, and changed the plug wires. The problem..............a bad plug right out of the box!!!

It is running good now. I need to go back to stock jets cause i got my dial-a-jet adjusted all the way to leanest setting. I get a little hesitation at 45mph but when i open a few holes in airbox it runs fine. I cant ever run with airbox open so i will have change jets. I never realized that your valves would affect your jetting so much. Live and learn i guess.

what jets are you running now?? I have the stock jets in mine with the NAPA intake, twin air filter, and ProCircuit 496 full exhaust. I'm hoping these mods will have me lean enough for my DAJ's to work and not have to jet smaller.
