Default Another Jetting Question

Sorry guys, I know this has probably been answered but I don't have time to read through ALL the jetting topics. I have DG Snorkle, K&N Air Filter, DG Holeshot, and stock exhaust. I'm below 1000 feet. What size DYNOJETS should I try first? I'd like to get this real close the first time. Jetting this thing has been a nightmare with all of the stripped screws.

Maybe we should start a thread where everybody can tell what jets they're using with types of mods, elevation, and location. Would make it easier for us less experienced guys.

Default Another Jetting Question

I found on my old 650 that the 5th notch on the needles were too rich no matter what.....I would try the 4th notch on the needles and a DJ 134 main front and 138 main rear..........

Don't use the Dynojet kit. Follow the recommendations of Don @ Diamond G when installing his snorkel. Start with stock needles shimed .020(Radio Shack washer pack) and remove the stock rear(142) jet from the rear and install in the front. Replace the rear with a 145. Your new jet kit will cost you about 6 bucks. Save yourself all the headaches that I went through. Maybe I'll see ya at Tug Hill-Watertown.

Stan- What headaches did you have with the Dynojet kit? I've had good luck with them on my bikes in the past and hopefully everything will work OK. Besides, I already installed it but I haven't had a chance to ride the quad yet. I'll be at Tug Hill tomorrow. On my Ski-Doo!!

Default Another Jetting Question

I bought the Dynojet kit for my Vforce. After 2 hours of dyno pulls, I could not get a CONSISTANT A/F ratio across the entire RPM range...well, I was hoping for most. It did make alittle more HP. From what my charts say...about 1HP average. I then removed the snorkel, removed the DynoJunk and pulled another dyno run and it doubled that gain. I went up another OEM jet size on the mains and gained that same 1HP.

Here's the deal. I emailed my dyno runs to Dynojet. The Support rep asked my if i modified my airbox. I said yes, "I removed the snorkel". Thats all. "Well, thats you problem". I emailed him more dyno runs with different Jetting configurations and with the snorkel on/off to prove that removing the snorkel should not make the A/F that inconsistent. Again, same crappy results with the kit and the snorkel ON. He never responded to me again.

I sold the Dynojet kit on eBay and wished the winner bidder well. By the way, my Dynojet needles DID NOT even fit the slide bore properly. They floated in there. Needles must have been dancing around. Get rid of that kit. Let me know if you need some help.

As soon as the weather cracks.....Im back to tug Hill. Look for a red prairie doing 70+ by the Montague or Flat Rock.

Another thing to look at is your pilot jets.....I changed my mains and also shimmed the needles. I didn't change my pilot jets and I couldn't turn my mixture screws enough to richen it up, but running high was ok. I got the pilot jets changed and runs great now.

True about the pilots. One size up usually works great with a GOOD exhaust pipe. If you are still using the OEM exhaust, you should be fine.

I am lean on the bottom with the OEM 40's. Were did you find the pilots? My source couldn't get them? Do you have the Keihin Part Number? Thanks...

Someone else did mine, but the funny thing is that on the invoice, they list as parts installed the exact stock pilot jet. I'm sure it was a mistake by the guy writing it down, because there is worlds of difference in how it runs now. I never could get it to richen up on the bottom end until I took it to someone else and they saw that I never changed my stock pilots.
