Default P800 Engine upgrade. Mickey, help.

I am very interested in getting the 800cc kit from FST for my P700, however I would like to have the heads ported/polished while the cylinders are being resleeved. I have been unable to reach anyone @FST because the line is always busy in the limited "time window"?!? I understand the labor intensity involved in porting heads and I don't mind paying for good work. Do you know of anyone that you would recommend to do a quality job resleeving and porting. I live in VA, but would be willing to ship if they come highly recommended, and the turnaround time is reasonable. Most of the guys I ride with run race gas (although they probably don't need it.) At what compression ratio does your 800cc kit come with? I assume they are designed for 93 octane fuel, would race gas benefit your 800cc kit in standard form? If race gas is so readily available to me, would the gains be worth decking the heads at all to boost compression? if so how many 1000ths? have you done this to any 800cc bikes so far? if so, results? When purchasing a 800cc kit, does FST ever do the work? If so,would you be interested in doing another set of cylinders/heads? if so, turnaround time? Sorry so many ? at once.
Thanks in advance.

We have sold alot of the 785cc kits and even more of the 800cc kits. They run 11:1 on pump gas but you could run a 50/ 50 mix to get a little more power but I don't think you need it. You can have the heads done but again I dont think you need to on a utility atv. Any good machien shop can do the cyl. if they do what we say in the instructions. I am going to try to keep a set of cyl. in stock later but I am very busy and that means I can't give turn around times. I have so much work and I do everything myself that I can't see that far down the road, sorry.

I'm sure you sell quite a few kits, my question was have you decked the heads on an 800cc kit to boost compression to run on race gas? and are the gains worth it? on a seperate note, why would you not port the heads on a utility quad? Even though a P700 may be classified "utility" doesn't mean we don't want the most power and speed, thats why we buy modules, air filters, CDI, clutch springs, 800cc kits...etc. I use my P700 primarily for high speed trail riding, informal drag races...etc. If I just used it for utility why would I need an 800cc kit?

It doesn't need more compression to run the cams and most people want to run pump gas. I will be building wilder stuff for the V-force and it will work on the Prairie also but it will be alot more money. When you pay for a 800cc kit you get more than your monies worth of power and to pay another $500 out for port & flow you don't get your monies worth of power for the cubic buck. If you want to do that I understand the need for speed I just don't think you need it in the woods. After you ride one you will understand what I am saying.

understood...however, I just want the most power possible and I know I have to pay for it, some Items having higher "cubic buck" value. If I have the heads off anyway, why not make em flow? what type of "wilder stuff" is available? Why is the p going to be "alot more money" than the v, I thought the cylinders were of the same basic design? thanks

The Prairie and the V-Force prices are the same on what we have now and what we are coming out with. Some of the products we are coming out with are heavy duty rods, 13:1 pistons, bigger cams to match the higher compression, modified rocker arms to allow for longer duration and higher lift and dual down draft Weber carberators. Then, head porting would be a must.

mickey, please stop talking like that, I'm getting excited!! LOL ;D but seriously, 13:1 sounds like race gas only, what would be the minimum recommended octane? can I get 13:1 with your current 800cc kit and cam? thanks.

None of the testing has been done on pistons or new-style cams so it is not available right now. You can run a 108 race gas for this compression ratio.

If you can get a set of 13:1 pistons, I would be willing to use them with your existing 800cc kit and proven cams. we use 112 octane fuel so I'm sure that won't be an issue. later
