Default CDI question for you Kawi guys

Hi fellas, I've got a 650 Cat but seem to spend most of my time reading about Kawi mods. Most Cat guys seem to want to have clubs and stuff, not much hardcore. Anyway I'll get to the piont. I'm one day away from ordering the Dynatek box, but....... I read about a Cat fella that installed it and claimed excessive heat from exhaust and engine. Has anyone with the CDI had it out for a long engough drive to varify everything runs normal or have most of your runs been quik blasts? I'd apreciate any responces. Thanks in advance.

DieselDude,
You want to get rid of some heat perforate your muffler it is so restrictive. It is not hard to mod your muffler that will help immensly for heat. Also try wrapping your exhaust with exhaust tape along with modding your muffler. The new cdi helps to reduce heat in the motor but you will also have to work on getting rid of the hot gases accumulated in the system. AC has a good format but very restrictive. Personally I would slash most of the restrictive stuff right from the start. One of the problems I can see with AC is that the intake and exhaust is wedged so tight it needs to breath. Make it breath and the machine will perform much better all around for you. Good luck on your modds, let us know what you do to your machine as time goes on. AC has a good system with modds from the Kawi forum you should be up and running hard in no time.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to order the module tomorrow. As far as the exhaust goes I'm looking for a system to fit the Cat but it looks like its going to be a modified Prairie system. I've read lots about the NAPA and DG snorkle but I'm not sure if the Cat air inlet is the same as the Kawi. Thanks again, great forum.

DieselDude,
There is more than one way to skin a Cat, lol. You will have to make stuff to work on your machine for the intake anything you do will help drasticly. Welcome to the world of CUSTOM MODIFYING good luck as again let us know how you make out.
